Family
I am (recently!) engaged to the very wonderful Thomas Carr, who runs races far longer than the marathon. My parents, Todd and Mary Horner, have been cheering me on my whole life. My sister, Nikki, and her husband, John, are always ready to listen and help me slow down to sort out what's next.
Greatest Accomplishment
Remaining grateful, gritty, curious and sparkly. It's important to me to invest in and cherish my relationships and my community while balancing school, work and training.
Interesting Story
Yarrow Pasche, my college coach, would add glitter to our cheeks and spikes before big races. I still add this sparkle before every race that I run. Six years after graduating from college, I pursued my master's degree at the University of Oxford where I was able to run another collegiate season. My coach and teammates challenged my perception of my athletic abilities and helped me reset PRs in the 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon.
