Family
I am so excited to compete at the Olympic Trials with my husband, Henry Sterling. We both ran at the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials and have since married! I owe everything to my family: my parents, Mark and Donna, and my siblings, Courtney and Shane. They have provided two decades of endless support through the ups and downs of competitive running. They have been incredibly understanding of the sacrifices that have been made over the years (missed birthdays, weddings, family events) due to training, competing or moving across the country to pursue running. They mean everything to me!
Greatest Accomplishment
1 ) Marrying my best friend, Henry; 2) Competing at the Olympic Trials
Interesting Story
I had my first-ever DNF at the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials due to a serious knee injury. I knew going in that I was not going to be able to finish and I was completely devastated. I began dreaming of running at the Olympic Trials when I started running in middle school and couldn't believe that after two decades of pursuing this dream, I was not going to be able to finish. I spent most of 2020 struggling to get healthy and made the decision to step back from the sport, my coach and my team. I thought my competitive career was over and decided to pour all of my energy into coaching a local high school team, Notre Dame Prep, with the hopes of being able to run easy with the team. I was eventually able to run pain-free and began coaching myself back to training and racing. A few years of consistent training led to 2023 being the best racing season of my career and I am so grateful to have another opportunity to compete at the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials alongside my husband, Henry!
Favorite Running Memory
Competing on my first U.S. Team in Edinburgh, Scotland! It was an incredible experience.
