Career Highlights
4th, 2018 Boston Marathon
Family
I met my husband on the cross country team at Williams College. We’ve been together since 2008 and I couldn’t train at a high level without his support. Between work and running, our boys James (3) and Nico (1) keep us very busy! I ran in the Atlanta Trials when I was seven months pregnant with James, so I’m excited to be able to compete this time.
Greatest Accomplishment
My children! And running well in horrible conditions to place 4th in the 2018 Boston Marathon.
Interesting Story
After my first postpartum comeback I had planned on racing 2021 CIM. But a week before the race my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly. As a result, I needed to travel to NY to be with my husband for the funeral. That weekend, I ran my indoor 5k PR off marathon training, and decided to sign up for Houston. I lucked out that the qualifying window opened up in January 2022, which meant I was one of the first qualifiers for the 2024 Trials. Although it was a difficult time for our family, the timing really worked in my favor and my son was born less than a year later!

Favorite Motivational Quote
"Some days it just flows and I feel like I’m born to do this, other days it feels like I’m trudging through hell. Every day I make the choice to show up and see what I’ve got, and to try and be better. My advice: keep showing up." - Des
Favorite Running Memory
There are too many to choose! Probably running the 4x800m relay in high school. That's when I fell in love with running, gained confidence in myself and made some really special friendships. Our coaches were amazing, and I’m still in touch with them 20 years later!
