My husband, Rusty, and I have a 1-year-old daughter.
Greatest Accomplishment
My biggest accomplishment is becoming a mom, the most rewarding, challenging and life-changing part of my life. Running an OTQ 14 months postpartum and after four years of no racing was a joy, and running it with a smile on my face and seeing my baby girl on the course was a dream.
Interesting Story
I took four years off competing. I struggled with hypothalamic amenorrhea for 11 years due to undereating and overtraining. In 2021 I decided I wanted to become a mom, so I committed myself to my health. I stopped competing and regained a healthy menstrual cycle for 11 months. I got pregnant in late October that year. I had a beautiful home birth in July 2022 and welcomed my sweet girl Lucy. I didn’t start training until February of 2023 and my first official race back was Chicago, where I got my OTQ (and I pooped my pants). The last marathon I had completed was Grandma’s in 2019, when I achieved my OTQ and realized I was struggling with sciatica. It was a LONG journey of recovery from both sciatica and HA, building a healthy body postpartum, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Running a marathon at this level after four years of no racing and doing it with joy as my daughter watched me from sidelines was simply euphoric. It was well worth the wait.
